Can you move the ads? --Kandooww (talk) 23:51, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

I'm not really able to change the ads myself, but if there is a bug or something similar I could pass it on. Is there a certain ad you are referring to in particular? Is it causing errors on a certain page, and if so which page? --Sigilbaram (talk) 20:14, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
No, I want to mean like this ad (I don't know if you can see it) -------------------------------------------------------------->
could you move it down?
P.S: Sorry if you don't understand me, I'm spanish and sometimes I don't know if the sentence is ok or wrong :P--Kandooww (talk) 21:37, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
Oh that ad... We've tried, very hard, to get them to move/remove that ad with no luck. Sorry.
And your English is fine. I just wanted to check if there was a specific error somewhere or if you were talking about the elephant in the corner (figuratively and literally T.T). --Sigilbaram (talk) 20:52, 25 November 2013 (UTC)

Can you change all "square" ads by "thin" ads (like the Main Page one: [1]) ? --Kandooww (talk) 14:35, 4 January 2014 (UTC)

I cannot, sorry. I hate that ad too, and have asked them to change it many times, including suggesting the same thing you are suggesting, with no luck. --Sigilbaram (talk) 18:33, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
Ok... sniff,sniff T.T--Kandooww (talk) 18:40, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

RE: Data pages[]

I probably should have figured those were specifically for dumps anyway. In the future, we should retrieve combat traits from the dump, as I had to manually add them to most heroes. A lot of the abilities felt out of order as well (for example, in Data:Champions/Arthas, Sacrifice was listed before Army of the Dead, which is confusing). There's also a few errors in the data that I corrected:

  • Tassadar's Phase Shift and Twilight Messiah abilities are messed up in the data, with Twilight Messiah believing it's Phase Shift. This causes it to overwrite Phase Shift's icon and show its name incorrectly.
  • On Illidan, Nova, and Raynor's data pages, their E is listed after both their heroic abilities.
  • Some abilities are inconsistent about how their duration is displayed.

If we plan to continue using the dump to set the data, we should correct inconsistencies and create a more consistent format for abilities to appear. In my opinion they should be listed with the base Q, W, E, R, Z (if applicable), D, with any sub-abilities listed after the ability they replace and any secondary abilities (such as Abathur's Symbiote abilities or Tychus's ODIN abilities) being listed after all others. --User:Lancey6 (talk) 19:38, 18 March 2014 (UTC)

I think the data dump needs to be fixed and any inconsistencies should be sorted out. Until then I think that it's better to manually update hero stats on the wiki. --User:Lancey6 (talk) 18:00, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
I'll let them know. I mentioned these issues to the data team, but they are kind of busy with several new projects, so they didn't get to work on the fixes for Heroes Wiki's data yet. --Sigilbaram (talk) 19:20, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
Just to update the situation, here are the errors with the data pages:
  • Traits still aren't shown
  • Icons need to be imported again as this most recent update broke some of them
  • Cooldowns and mana costs haven't been added to the data. They should be the last 2 parameters (;cooldown;energy) with energy being omitted if there is none
  • On Data:Champions/Arthas, his second Heroic ability now says "Arthas Summon Sindragosa", rather than just "Summon Sindragosa"
  • On Data:Champions/Diablo, Diablo's Heroic abilities are now called "Diablo Apocalypse" and "Lightning Breath Targeted" instead of "Apocalypse" and "Lightning Breath" respectively
  • On Data:Champions/Falstad, some of Falstad's abilities have been renamed by adding Falstad's name in front of them. Additionally, Flight appears to be out of order
  • On Data:Champions/Illidan, Lunge is out of order (should be listed before Heroic abilities)
  • On Data:Champions/L90ETC, all of E.T.C.'s abilities have been improperly renamed
  • On Data:Champions/Nova, Holo Decoy is listed out of order (should be listed before Heroic abilities)
  • On Data:Champions/Raynor, Adrenaline Rush is listed out of order. Additionally, there are two versions of it, the original and the one that offers 50% more healing. According to this duplicate, only one of them scales as well. This should be corrected
  • On Data:Champions/SgtHammer, Siege Mode and Tank Mode should be switches, as Tank Mode is a sub-ability of Siege Mode. Additionally, Siege Mode's description includes the bonuses it receives from certain talents - something no other ability does
  • On Data:Champions/Tassadar, the issues with Phase Shift has been corrected but Time Warp is now out of order
  • On Data:Champions/Tychus, it is unclear what abilities are his default and what abilities are granted by Odin in the order they are in. Additionally, "Tychus Drakken Laser Drill Issue Order" should not start with Tychus and is listed before Drakken Laser Drill, even though it is a sub-ability
  • On Data:Champions/Tyrael, both Angelic Flash abilities should be listed after Punishing Blade and should be reversed, as the first one is gained through a talent
  • On Data:Champions/Tyrande, Sentinel Shot and Lunar Flare are in reverse order
  • On Data:Champions/WitchDoctor, Plague Toads lists that it's a cone effect in its name
  • On Data:Champions/Zeratul, Sustained Anomaly is listed twice (the duplicate is from the Double Bombs talent and should still scale) and is referred to as Singularity Spike in the talents
--User:Lancey6 (talk) 18:42, 28 March 2014 (UTC)
I let the data team know. Thanks. :) --Sigilbaram (talk) 22:53, 28 March 2014 (UTC)
Hey guys im the dev who is behind the data import, im fixing upthe names and icons now as well as readding mana, and the trait abilities. As for the ordering, ill get that fixed up with the next impot. And mana cost and cooldown are baked into the tooltip itself. I will work on pulling it out, so you can display it elsewhere, but it is part of the actual description text --User:Sanktanglia (talk) 19:47, 28 March 2014 (CST)

Murky and Zagara[]

You seem to be the one responsible for making the very nice tiles for the front page, therefore I've come to see if you would be kind enough to make some for Murky and Zagara. They were apparently announced with PAX East but haven't been added to the front page yet. -- Taohinton (talk) 17:43, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

Sorry for the delay. I get the tiles from the data team and our sister site Heroes Nexus. They haven't gotten the data for the new heroes yet, but they will soon hopefully. --Sigilbaram (talk) 15:24, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

How can I add the heroe cost in the infobox?--Kandooww (talk) 14:20, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

Spanish page[]

How can I start the spanish version of this gamepedia? :D --Kandooww (talk) 13:00, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

Sorry for the delay, but for some reason I didn't get an email that I had a message... Anyway, we have some guidelines for out language wiki setup process over at gphelp:Translation Guidelines. --Sigilbaram (talk) 19:50, 21 August 2014 (UTC)

Wiki links[]

I've just made some simple templates to make it easier to link to the wikis for the three franchises: {{wow}}, {{sc}} and {{dw}}. This saves a lot of trouble creating a full url link, instead letting you just use a keyword/page name. We already have the wowpedia: fitting which works well to translate white space (such as "Tauren rogue") into underscores for workable web addresses. It also allows for a direct link like Tauren rogue rather than this: Burning Hells.

While this wiki seems to draw its Starcraft info from the wikia SC site (presumably as there doesn't seem to be a SC gamepedia) I can understand if you don't want to make it too smooth a transition to that site. Making something similar to wowpedia: for the diablo gamepedia would be handy though, so we can just type {{dw|Burning Hells}} instead of {{dw|Burning_Hells|Burning Hells}}. If you could make a similar fitting for the SC wikia (same benefits) that would be great; leaving it as a recognisable external link would be fine. -- Taohinton (talk) 16:13, 29 October 2014 (UTC)

On this wiki already has Russian and Spanish pages. Please add language module to the main(like dota 2 wiki)Originalnii (talk)

Hero data help[]

Hi! I'm working on Spanish Heroes of the Storm Wiki. I'm trying to copy the same templates and these stuffs, but I can't solve a problem about the Hero data template (one example). Can you help me? :) --Kandooww (talk) 18:29, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

P.S: and how can I make the interlingual link between the wikis?--Kandooww (talk) 18:30, 2 February 2015 (UTC)
Oh hello. I missed this message in my email, sorry. The Data pages are from the data dump. If you are doing a translation you can instead just use the infoboxes normally and ignore the data pages. Language linking should be set up automatically I believe, I'll double check though. To do the "this page in other languages" part you would put [[en:<english wiki page>]] at the bottom of pages on the Spanish wiki's page and [[es:<spanish wiki page>]] on the bottom of the English wiki's page. --Sigilbaram (talk) 05:38, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
The language links weren't done automatically, but I added them quick. They should be all set now. (I did the main page on the Spanish wiki as a test/example). --Sigilbaram (talk) 05:44, 15 February 2015 (UTC)

Skin templates[]

I've recently started adding backstory templates (such as {{Backstory Anub'arak Cyb'arak}}) so updating the text won't need to be done manually on each page its listed. I however, thought that maybe a broader template might be needed for the whole skin information: skin name, backstory, price, skin features and notes. All this I know how to do, what I don't know is how to create the template so that the editor can decide which parts to make view-able. For example, at Character skin themes, only the skin name and backstory are relevant.

What I'm looking for is a way to make the template work like this: {{Anub'arak Cyb'arak}} , that way you can control what parts of the information you want added (but the order will always be this order, as in you can't put note before price). Do you know how I can do something like this? --Celellach (talk) 11:21, 16 July 2015 (UTC)

Leave blank entries when you skip a value, like this {{Anub'arak Cyb'arak||200||some note}}, or use named parameters. Or if you mean how to code the template you'd use the #if parser function, like {{#if:{{{1|}}}|<what to show if parameter 1 is true (not blank)>|<what to show if parameter 1 is false (blank)>}}. {{Skill}} would be a similar example to what you're talking about, though it accepts both named and ordered parameters (but breaks if you try to mix the two types). --Sigilbaram (talk) 17:06, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
Oh I completely misunderstood what you were asking for. I'll look at that some more. --Sigilbaram (talk) 17:12, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
Before we get into this too much though, I want to show you something that will make what you're working on somewhat easier to maintain. If you look at Sandbox you'll see I put info for a couple skins in #subobjects, then on User:Sigilbaram/sandbox#Skin_info I asked for this info. This is from an extension called Semantic Mediawiki, which lets us do what you're trying to do without making hundreds of templates all over the place, instead we could make {{skin}} that puts both the current skin format and these subjects right on the heroes page. Then we can make the template you were asking me about use the info from those subojects. If someone needs to update the skin data they just go to the champion's page and update the {{skin}} template instead of hunting down some template page somewhere else and editing that template. --Sigilbaram (talk) 18:09, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
If someone updates the skin data in the champions page (Anub'arak), does it then update the skin data in all places the skin data is used on? --Celellach (talk) 15:14, 19 July 2015 (UTC)
Friendly bump in-case you missed my question. --Celellach (talk) 22:22, 26 July 2015 (UTC)

Hero Infobox[]

This (and other) infobox related templates seem to be not based on the actual Template:Infobox, which makes editing them a nightmare (in case of adding new parameters or changing the orders). I've been working a new version in the sandbox here, but this is the most I can do with my template coding skill for now. What I'm trying to do, is merge your data import code with the way infoboxes based on Template:Infobox work. Can you take a look and help me clean this up? Also, regarding the size, I didn't know how to get the previous size so I just put some values in. Thanks. --Celellach (talk) 22:27, 26 July 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for the help! --Senescalzin 19:17, 8 July 2016 (UTC)

hi, a higher quality image of this?[]

I think you uploaded this image on 16 May 2016? https://heroesofthestorm.gamepedia.com/File:Arcane_Intellect_Icon.png Do you have a higher resolution version of it? Thanks

That was User:Senescalzin. It's an icon so I'm not sure you'd be able to find it anywhere any larger than it is. Icons are smaller images by nature and these were pulled straight from the game data as far as I know. --Sigilbaram (talk) 13:59, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
