	Hero: <hero dependent> Deathwing: For it to be as it must, yes.		After the Dragon Aspects imbued their essences into the Dragon Soul during the War of the Ancients, Deathwing sealed the essences in the disk, causing an ominous black glow to surround the artifact. The green Dragon Aspect Ysera asked if the glow should be there, to which Neltharion replied "For it to be as it must, yes" (as seen in The Demon Soul).

vs. Anduin	I don't know what Wrathion sees in you.		Wrathion is a black dragon who was born free of the Old Gods' corruption. He considers himself Deathwing's son and heir. During the events of Mists of Pandaria, Anduin and Wrathion encountered one another and developed an odd friendship of sorts.
vs. Cho'gall	Two heads. Countless failures.		Cho'gall was the leader of the Twilight's Hammer, a cult who worships the Old Gods and hailed Deathwing as their herald. During the Cataclysm, Cho'gall and the Twilight's Hammer worked to help Deathwing bring about the Hour of Twilight, but Cho'gall himself was eventually killed in his stronghold, the Bastion of Twilight.
vs. Chromie	Give my regards to Murozond.		The bronze dragonflight is led by Nozdormu, the former Aspect of Time. At some point in the future, Nozdormu is destined to fall to madness, take on the name Murozond, and form a faction of corrupted bronze dragons called the infinite dragonflight.
vs. D.Va (The Destroyer skin)	Hah! A pale imitation at best!		The D.Va the Destroyer skin is based on Deathwing and was made in response to the "Deathwing confirmed" memes circulating around the release of the Hanamura Showdown cinematic in 2017.
vs. Malthael	Nothing can stop Deathwing.		Reference to the Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Opening Cinematic, in which Malthael tells Tyrael "No one can stop death".
vs. Ragnaros	You will always be a tier below me, Firelord.		In World of Warcraft, armor sets obtained from raiding (and, by extension, the raids themselves) are categorized into "tiers". Ragnaros is the final boss of tier 12 (the Firelands) while Deathwing serves as the final boss of tier 13 (Dragon Soul).
vs. Thrall	Where's the Dragon Soul now, shaman?		During the Cataclysm, Thrall and Deathwing's fellow Dragon Aspects used the Dragon Soul to destroy the Worldbreaker. Since the artifact was determined to be the only weapon capable of harming Deathwing, Thrall would've been pretty helpless without it.
vs. Varian	That was for Onyxia.		Onyxia was Deathwing's prime daughter. Disguised as Lady Katrana Prestor, she tried to destroy the human kingdom of Stormwind from within but was eventually killed by King Varian and his allies.

Ugh. I'm having the worst case of lockjaw right now.		Lockjaw is the common name for several medical conditions that can cause muscle spasms. In Deathwing's case it's rather literal, since his lower jaw is actually made of metal.
Smoke on the water, fire in the sky. I did that!		Reference to the lyrics of Deep Purple's 1972 song "Smoke on the Water".
At the tone, the time will be the HOUR OF TWILIGHT! Eastern Kingdoms standard time.		The Hour of Twilight is a prophesied moment when the Old Gods will break free of their prisons and usher in the end of all of life on Azeroth. The goal of Deathwing was to bring about the Hour of Twilight. "Eastern Kingdoms Standard Time" is a reference to the Eastern Kingdoms, Azeroth's easternmost continent, and the North American time zone Eastern Standard Time.
People keep saying they're outraged at another infamous black dragon for burning an entire city full of innocent people to ash. One city. <scoffs> Amateur.		Reference to "The Bells", the penultimate episode of the controversial final season of HBO's Game of Thrones which aired in early 2019, in which the black dragon Drogon burns down the city of King's Landing. The episode and the season as a whole were met with heavy criticism for the writing and the sudden character turns.

What is a dragon's favorite car? A wyrmrest accord! Buh-dum-ba.		A pun on the Honda Accord car and the Wyrmrest Accord, an alliance between the dragonflights to combat the blue Dragon Aspect Malygos after he declared war on all mortal magic users.
Look, with the number of whelps I've sired, I think I've earned the right to make a dad joke or two.		Most of the Dragon Aspects have a large number of consorts and descendants. Deathwing's children include the infamous Nefarian and Onyxia, and many of his plots over the years have revolved around trying to raise new clutches of eggs or create entirely new dragonflights.
